SAMA is an independent agency that provides a quality property assessment system for Saskatchewan. We are responsible to the Province of Saskatchewan, local governments (municipalities) and property owners.
SAMA is governed by a Board of Directors representing urban and rural municipalities, as well as representatives appointed by the Provincial Government. We have a staff complement of over 150 people who work out of Central Office in Regina, and eight regional offices throughout the province.
SAMA was established in 1987 as a result of the Saskatchewan Local Government Finance Commission’s review of the property assessment system in the province. The Commission published a report that recommended the establishment of an independent assessment agency to conduct property assessments and develop assessment policy.
